Hello guys, i have read that if you don't have a us legal entity and you make money out of freelanxing sites like upwork/ fiverr those platforms are entitled to retaining 30% of your income for tax purposes. I don't want that s**t ... What is the best structure to have as a non-us freelancer if you don't wanna pay taxes neither on your home country (I don't live in my home country, I travel) or in the Us?

It's on for royalties like books, not for work. And you need to confirm on w8ben that you are not us resident, then they will not withhold.

Russia Introduces New Law to Track Foreigners Using Their Smartphones

The Russian government has introduced a new law that makes installing a tracking app mandatory for all foreign nationals in the Moscow region.

This includes gathering their real-time locations, fingerprint, face photograph, and residential information. "The adopted mechanism will allow,

using modern technologies, to strengthen control in the field of migration and will also contribute to reducing the number of violations and crimes

in this area," Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the State Duma, said. "If migrants change their actual place of residence, they will be required to inform

the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) within three working days."

A proposed four-year trial period begins on September 1, 2025, and runs until September 1, 2029.

I am glad to hear that they still need apps for that in China and Russia. In the west, they just track everybody regardless.

Any any case, this is great news for all burner producers.

They don't really need apps for that in China anymore, there are AI enabled cameras everywhere.

But just in case, as 91.8% of Chinese use wechat (as of 2024, and the missing 8.2% are probably infants waiting for their honor phone),

their location, chats and spending preferences are all automatically monitored.

As my friend told me: there is no (low level) crime in China anymore, all the criminals left for easier pickings abroad.

Russia was and has been Orwellian for more than 100+ years, in fact Orwell wrote "The Animal Farm" ABOUT the USSR.

The only people who fail to see it are the clown people consuming Russian propaganda 24/7 while calling themselves "open-minded" "self-thinkers" "skeptics"

They arrest you for FB posts in the UK as well.

Even asking people to speak English is a hate crime now.

It's a clown world.

They arrest a lot of people. But there's very few convictions. The police are just harassing the general population. Which legally they're sort of required to do (not that they don't enjoy it...), but they can't then actually prosecute, let alone convict, almost any of those people.

England should never have moved away from the pre-1900 incitement norms.

It's for foreign workers from nearby ex-USSR countries so far. Only for those who don't need visa to Russia.

Though Russia is obviously far more Orwellian than West.

Are you suggesting Honor phones are monitoring devices ? Maybe I need to throw away my new honor phone and I am not in China.

I believe that if you are not subversive to China you don't really need to worry about it.

But to be informed:

Not just Honor themselves, but the bloatware on the phone might be monitoring you. WeChat alone is collecting location/chat/payment, etc. data on you.

In 2020, India's CERT-In issued a high severity advisory for multiple vulnerabilities in Honor phones (e.g. Honor View20, Honor 20, Magic2), which could allow attackers to access sensitive data or bypass authentication. This issue was solved by updates.

Reporters without Borders (RSF) have flagged Honor as potentially risky for journalists, especially those covering China, due to its state ties and similarities to Huawei (same thing, different name)

Chinas 2017 Natinal Intelligence Law mandates cooperation with state intelligence, if they ask for your info Honor will hand over everything they got on you.

I used a Huawei phone in the past myself, and I loved it. I still think that's great tech for a good price, and I would use it again if I'd find a good deal.

Personally, I believe that everything is spying on us. They don't even need to do it on the software side, the Intel CPUs have unique serial numbers for 2 decades I think, I remember reading some scary stuff about Qualcomm, Mediatek is an open secret, and there are 0-day exploits and backdoors for everything.

Now I use Graphene OS on an ungoogled phone, but I wouldn't wonder if it was compromised as well (both hardware or software wise), or a straight honeypot.

You can't even trust a charging cable nowadays. https://shop.hak5.org/products/omg-cable
