Which one is better DeepSeek or ChatGPT ?

Deep seek has a feature which chat gpt doesn't - you can attach pdf file or image to write out text or correct mistakes so I use deep seek for that purpose, also deep seek has higher limits for text length. Other that that I prefer chat gpt

you can copy / paste images and pdf's to chatgpt too and it read it?

Wonder if there are any preferences comparing both AI software?

DeepSeek as I like the logical reasoning.

P.S I don't want to send my data to any US government data gathering product also.

You’re okay that China collects your data?

Are the alternatives you’re suggesting just as good at formulating clear responses and finding high-quality answers as ChatGPT?

100% I am....lol.

If I had to choose between data collection by China or US I would choose China due to overreach of US.

Out of interest what you think the Chinese government can do to you with your data compared to US having your data?

In practice, China won’t do anything harmful to your life (as long as you don’t plan to live here) and so does US. It’s just that China is more aggressive on collecting personal data.

Here’s my own setup:

  • Coding: Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Gemini 2.5 Pro Exp, Bolt.new
  • Content Creation: Grok 3 DeepSearch/Think, Qwen3‑235B Think
  • Research: Grok 3 DeeperSearch and Gemini 2.5 Pro Exp Deep Research
  • Daily Use: All ChatGPT versions (4o, o3, o4‑mini)
  • Automation: N8N on my own server
  • Uncensored: Ollama dolphin‑mixtral / llama2‑uncensored
Every AI is good at something, depending on what you need. For example, I wrote a thinking-focused prompt, and only DeepSeek R1 gave the right answer I was looking for.

At work, we use Bolt.new for big software projects. Claude 3.7 Sonnet works well for mid-level stuff. Gemini 2.5 Pro Exp is better, but the free version has limits right now.

Lol correct . You can trust Chinese won't do anything as they only collect essential data for their own citizens as well as for defense related matters. US collects non essential too.

US government collects data for all purposes. They fired IRS workers recently as they can now use chatgpt to audit all your reports, data etc. You are correct in your assumptions best is to avoid using their tools.

Yes and their information gathering, sharing and international cooperation ability is unprecedented in a way that China's is not.

undefinedExpanded Social Media Surveillance of Foreigners by US Agencies Raises Concerns for Citizen Privacy#-expanded-social-media-surveillanc...-agencies-raises-concerns-for-citizen-privacyhttps://disa.org/expanded-social-me...agencies-raises-concerns-for-citizen-privacy/

I prefer to stay off US ecosystem or plantation due to overreach and use DeepSeek rather than Chatgpt and risk having my searches added to their surveillance databases and their body of dirt they keep on each person

For simple users things the both is good. If we are talking about integration with API of something like that, my friend who a little bit involved in development told that DS is better.

However generalizing "CHATGPT" is not correct. From the free version to the o3 model there is a big difference.

If you're not using AI for sensitive information, then it almost doesn't matter which one you use. I personally stick with ChatGPT because I'm used to it by now.

Someone notice ChatGPT to become slow after using it for a month or so ?

Ton of people on internet saying since May they experience slow performance and at times accuracy has fallen off with many hallucinations in results. So your not alone.

P.S Some fixed it by deleting chat history.

ahh ha, thanks. Good to know, hope they fix their s**t.

Is there any decent jail-brake for DeepSeek? Wasn't able to find one during a fast research

P.s. Hi everyone, a new member here!

lol what a bs. how a third party owned web service could be "private"?

agree, you can forget about privacy unless you build a black box model on top of a current AI

If people are looking for an European alternative, Nebius AI has all of the Chinese models and much more at reasonable prices. Cheap and easy to set-up. Your data protected by EU privacy laws I think but don't take my word for it.

I personally like Venice, their DeepSeek models (and the ones based on them) are immensely good for role-playing and system prompts, unfiltered and uncensored output and I trust Mr. Voorhees to not share data, but it would be an even more attractive proposition if the company were based offshore with the servers in privacy jurisdiction.

Venice will likely at some point add privacy-enhancing features like prompt-encryption.

I rather Trust a US firm than a China firm, but my mind could change soon.

If you want privacy, it's easy and doesn't cost money and you don't need to worry about your data.

Just download an AI model and run it offline on your local computer. If your PC isn't powerful enough, use a VPS.

If you are concerned about privacy, or you simply want access to various ai's from one webapp, I suggest using an AI wrapper like ppq.ai or openrouter.ai

Using these, you can use different AI engines for different uses. For example, chatgpt o3 for advanced reasoning or web research, and then deepseek for cheap queries.

-The accounts are anonymous

-You only need to pay once

-You can pay with crypto

Notes:

-PPQ has o3 but without web search

-For openrouter, to use o3 you have to provide your own api key, so it doesn't work for privacy. But there is an alternative that's at least as good in terms of quality of advanced reasoning and deepresearch, which is called Perplexity Sonar Deep Research (just note that it's slow and has iffy uptime, so it may fail searches, and you have to keep retrying)

-Gemini 2.0 and 2.5 have similar quality to chatgpt 4o and o3, but at much lower cost that's similar to deepseek2

I use ChatGPT almost 24/7 for everything I write and for working across different languages, it’s never been easier to run an international business.
